WSPMA Participates in WSU Stakeholder Meeting
On October 1, WSPMA took part in a stakeholder roundtable hosted by Washington State University’s College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) with Dean Raj Khosla.
The meeting convened a diverse group of participants, including growers, researchers, community leaders, and industry representatives, to provide input on WSU’s research priorities and outreach strategies. The discussion touched on a wide range of agricultural, environmental, and community issues across Washington State.
As part of this larger conversation, WSPMA shared insights from the structural pest management industry. Our comments focused on the importance of practical research and extension programs that help pest management professionals address everyday challenges, including:
-
Protecting homes and public health from pests
-
Supporting food production through responsible pest control practices
-
Navigating regulatory requirements while maintaining stewardship of products and tools
While our industry was one voice among many, the opportunity to ensure pest management is part of the conversation at the state’s leading agricultural research institution is an important step forward.
Dean Khosla emphasized his commitment to aligning WSU’s resources with the real-world needs of stakeholders across Washington, and WSPMA looks forward to being a part of that process.
We extend our thanks to WSU and Dean Khosla for hosting this meeting, and to the many partners who came together to share their perspectives. WSPMA will continue to represent the interests of our members in these broad stakeholder discussions to ensure our industry’s priorities are heard.
