Stay Ahead of the Heat: Protecting Pest Professionals in the Field
As temperatures rise, so do the risks facing pest management professionals working in the field. Long hours outdoors, protective gear, and physically demanding environments can quickly create dangerous conditions if heat safety isn’t a priority.
That’s why the Washington State Pest Management Association is offering an upcoming safety session focused on one of the most important seasonal risks our industry faces.
Heat Safety for Pest Professionals
Date: May 14, 2026
Time: 7:30–8:30 AM
Format: Virtual via Zoom
Speaker: Annie Dahl, Safety Coordinator, Sprague Pest Solutions
Cost: Free — registration required
This session is designed specifically for pest professionals who understand that heat exposure isn’t just uncomfortable — it can be dangerous if not managed properly. Annie will share practical, real-world strategies that companies and technicians can immediately apply in the field.
Topics will include recognizing early warning signs of heat-related illness, implementing effective hydration and rest practices, safely acclimating employees to warmer conditions, and responding appropriately when heat stress occurs.
Attendees will also gain insight into employer responsibilities and how to build or strengthen a heat safety plan that supports both compliance and a strong safety culture.
Whether you’re a business owner, manager, or technician, this session will provide valuable tools to help you and your team stay safe, productive, and prepared as we head into the warmer months.
