Utilize Rodent Awareness Week to Educate Consumers Ahead of Winter

Rodent Awareness Week is October 18–24, 2026, and the Professional Pest Management Alliance is encouraging pest management companies to help educate consumers about seasonal rodent risks. With fall driving rodents indoors, WSPMA members can use the week to share prevention tips, warning signs, and the value of professional pest management. PPMA is also providing educational content and marketing resources that companies can use to strengthen customer outreach and amplify a consistent industry message throughout the week

WSPMA’s Professional Women in Pest Management welcomed Courtney Carace, ACE, COO and co-owner of Pest-End, for an engaging conversation on leadership, career development, and company culture. Courtney shared strategies for creating career paths, recognizing employees, and keeping teams connected and motivated. Attendees also exchanged ideas for community outreach and promoting pest management as a rewarding career.

Grow Your Industry Network: Apply for NPMA Hives

WSPMA members looking to expand their professional network are encouraged to participate in NPMA Hives, a small-group networking and professional development program. Participants are matched with 5–7 fellow NPMA members for weekly 30-minute conversations focused on career goals, challenges, advice, and peer support. The nine-week program creates meaningful connections with professionals from across the industry while requiring a manageable time commitment. Applications for the November cohort are open through October 15, 2026.

WSPMA Board Reviews Strong Membership and Plans for 2027

WSPMA’s September Board meeting highlighted strong Summer Meeting attendance, successful fundraising, and encouraging membership retention. Directors approved moving $10,000 into the money market account while final conference expenses are reviewed. The Board welcomed incoming director Lacey Bannister, discussed a new Allied Member seat, and reviewed progress on its NPMA partnership. Planning also continued for PestWorld, the upcoming Rodent Academy, and 2027 Legislative Day. The next Board meeting is October 15 at 9:30 AM via Zoom.

Annual All-Agency Pest & Pesticide Issues Forum – October 21
Outside Event
Owners, managers, and pest management professionals are invited to the Annual All-Agency Pest/Pesticide Issues Forum on October 21 in Lacey. This free event brings together representatives from Washington agencies to discuss current pesticide trends, emerging pest issues, and topics affecting pesticide applicators and businesses. WSDA recertification credits have been requested. Lunch is provided, and attendees can participate in person or via Zoom. The forum is open to all, with owners and managers especially encouraged to attend.
