As an Association we strive to create an environment that allows industry awareness and a sense of comradery. Our relationships with Members of the WSPMA are open and honest and help to provide self discipline. House Advances 2026 Farm Bill Without State Pesticide Preemption

The House passed the 2026 Farm Bill without state pesticide preemption language after Amendment #28 removed Sections 10205-10207. NPMA continues advocacy efforts as the bill moves to the Senate. Additional updates include EPA discussions on ESA mitigations and ongoing rodenticide legislation in New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. WSPMA encourages members to stay engaged in advocacy efforts supporting science-based regulation and professional access to pest management tools.

WSDA shared several important Certification & Training updates for 2026, including expanded computer-based testing, implementation of updated exams and study manuals, continued improvements to online renewals, and upcoming changes to Idaho reciprocal licensing beginning January 1, 2027. WSDA also highlighted ongoing work related to ESA implementation, AEZ updates, and compliance activities. Members are encouraged to attend the May 28 Pesticide Advisory Board meeting in Cle Elum or virtually.

U.S. Pest Control Industry Sustains Steady Growth with 6% Increase in 2025

The U.S. structural pest control industry generated $13.416 billion in revenue in 2025, marking 6% growth and outperforming U.S. GDP growth by more than 2.7 times. The industry includes 16,565 firms and over 109,000 technicians nationwide. Recurring residential revenue remained strong, commercial services continued growing, and labor shortages remained a key challenge. Ants and cockroaches were identified as the leading causes of callbacks, highlighting ongoing demand for effective pest management solutions.
