As an Association we strive to create an environment that allows industry awareness and a sense of comradery. Our relationships with Members of the WSPMA are open and honest and help to provide self discipline. Through the volunteer efforts of our Members we have grown into a fantastic organization that will continue to serve the needs of our Members.

Washington Friends of Farms & Forests (WFFF) Legislative Update
Government Affairs
Washington lawmakers are preparing for a 2026 session dominated by budget deficits, new taxes, and regulatory debates impacting pest management businesses. Key issues include PFAS rules, rodenticide restrictions, data-center energy demands, transportation funding, and major changes proposed by Ecology on riparian buffers and agricultural BMPs. Revenue forecasts remain uncertain, employment is softening, and new federal proposals—PFAS reporting relief and a clearer WOTUS definition—could reduce regulatory burdens for applicators, growers, and service providers.

Three Key Events Close Out WSPMA’s 2025 Education Season

WSPMA wraps up the year with three December events: the Winter Convention on December 13 with six technical sessions offered in-person or virtually; the Virtual General Membership Meeting on December 15 to review 2025 accomplishments and discuss 2026 priorities; and the Winter Business Development Day featuring three expert-led sessions. Members receive complimentary access to the business day with registration.

PWIPM Washington Drives New Opportunities for Women in Pest Management

The PWIPM Washington chapter is expanding its efforts to support and connect women in pest management through new networking opportunities, scholarship fundraising, and increased visibility across the industry. Upcoming projects include the PWIPM at the Park fundraiser, support for WSPMA’s awards program, and chapter recruitment initiatives. Members are encouraged to participate, contribute ideas, and join the next meeting on January 20, 2026, at 7:00 AM.

WSPMA Members Represented at ESA Conference – Highlights & Updates
Member Updates
WSPMA was proudly represented at the ESA Conference in Portland by Past President Luke Rambo and SPAR Billy Olesen. Highlights included Chris Somers being re-recognized with the ACE Professionalism Award, strong scientific sessions on pesticide resistance, vector-borne diseases, and new technology like the Vector Guard platform. The conference showcased impressive student research and reinforced the importance of supporting future urban entomologists to keep our industry informed and prepared.
