Date: April 21 | Time: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM | Location: Virtual
Investment: $15 | CEUs: 1 CEU will be applied for with WSDA
Join WSPMA for a timely, science-based virtual session designed for pest management professionals focused on pollinator health and our industry’s role in protecting pollinators. This workshop will highlight how responsible, label-directed, and IPM-driven practices can support pollinator success while continuing to protect public health.
Dr. Chakrabarti Basu will discuss how multiple stressors—including nutrition, pesticides, abiotic stressors, and disease—interact to impact bees. Attendees will gain practical insight into risk reduction, stewardship-minded decision-making, and ways to strengthen communication with customers and stakeholders about pollinator protection.

Dr. Priya Chakrabarti Basu studies the interactive impacts of multiple stressors on bees, including poor nutrition, pesticides, abiotic stressors, and diseases. She uses multidisciplinary approaches spanning physiology, toxicology, functional biology, multiomics-based techniques, and neuroethology to better understand pollinator health.
She currently serves as Vice-President of the PBT Section of the Entomological Society of America and the North American Chair of the nutrition taskforce for COLOSS, the international bee organization. She has also held leadership roles within the American Association of Professional Apiculturists, the Entomological Society of America, and the Mississippi Entomological Association.
In addition to her research, Dr. Chakrabarti Basu works closely with stakeholders, policymakers, and the broader community to protect bee pollinators and raise pollinator awareness. She is also a children’s book author focused on expanding pollinator education among young readers.
