Former Executive Director of WSPMA
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and longtime WSPMA leader, Tim Baker. After being diagnosed with cancer in November of 2023, Tim fought courageously through numerous treatments and therapies. In August of 2024, he found a moment of peace and strength, joining us at the WSPMA Summer Meeting—just as he always had—bringing light, humor, and heart to every interaction.
The past few months were difficult as the disease progressed quickly, but Tim never lost hope. More than anything, he hoped to return to the people—his colleagues, friends, and extended family in pest management.
If you knew Tim, you know that his superpower was connection. Whether you were a customer, a coworker, or a fellow industry professional, Tim never met a stranger. His warmth, sincerity, and genuine love for people shaped not only his relationships but also the culture of our association.
Tim began his pest control career in 1984 with Terminix, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of service in this industry. He later joined his good friend Steve Venables before purchasing Washington Pest Services, which he ran and grew until selling it in 2004. But Tim couldn’t stay away—he founded The Insect Man’s System (TIMS) shortly after, continuing to serve many of the same customers who had followed him throughout his career. He remained dedicated to his clients and this industry until his passing.
Tim served as Executive Director of WSPMA for over a decade, helping bridge our past and future. He was instrumental in shaping the strength and direction of our association, and his legacy will be felt for many years to come.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife Julie, daughters Samantha and Katie, father Dan, sisters Terri and Tami, and brother Tom.
There is a hole in our industry, but our hearts are full as we remember Tim’s enduring legacy. He would be so proud to know the impact he’s had on so many lives.
If you would like to share a memory or photo of Tim, please email Samantha at smalone@wspma.com.
A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at his home on May 23, from 1:00–5:00 PM. For more details, please contact Samantha at the address above.
With deepest sympathy,
